This is my Why

Back in college, I stumbled upon yoga during a time when I was undergoing physical therapy for a knee injury. I remember thinking, “Why am I dealing with this at such a young age?” But something incredible happened as I delved into the practice.

Through yoga, I discovered the power of breathing techniques, and I watched in awe as my injury naturally began to heal. It was a profound realization that I hold the key to my own healing. This newfound empowerment ignited a fire within me, and when my college yoga classes started exploring the 8 limbs of yoga, I was completely hooked.

Deep down, I always knew I was a yogi at heart. My fascination with the natural world, creativity, art, and the act of bringing things into existence aligned perfectly with my passion for yoga. That’s when I had a brilliant idea—to merge my love for creation with the practice of yoga. And that’s how our brand, Mahad, came to life.

My hope is that when you come across Mahad, it’s not just something you see but something you feel deep in your soul. It’s about delivering that same empowerment and transformation that yoga has brought me, right to you. So, welcome to our journey, and let’s embark on this beautiful path of self-discovery together. This is my Why

Like many others, I found myself struggling with burn out and increased anxiety during the pandemic. As an advocate for self-care, I decided to take my own advice and signed up for various different activities in search of a new hobby, a passion or really anything that would help me decompress from the day to day.

I found myself taking a Yoga class; up until this point Yoga was only something I’d heard people talk about, something that sounded complex or intense. After completing my first Yoga class, I felt an immediate sense of calmness and an energy I hadn’t felt for a long time. This encounter with Yoga led to a deep curiosity; what about these poses or movements created this experience, what is the history and background behind Yoga, how does the breath connect to all of this? Soon after, I found myself registering for Yoga Teacher Training – I wanted to explore Yoga further, to immerse myself in the daily practices and continue on this personal and spiritual journey. After completing my training, my curiosity turned in to a passion for introducing this practice to others by creating a space for self-discovery and empowerment to grow physically, mentally and spiritually.

Come join me on the mat where we’ll spend time experiencing the present moment. Together, we’ll work on linking breath to movement so you can reconnect with your body while simultaneously taking a break from your thoughts. My classes incorporate gentle flowing sequences coupled with intentional stillness, where you can practice sharpening your focus. You can expect breathwork, grounding practices, variations, and opportunities for both challenge and rest.

I am certified with Yoga Alliance as a 200-RYT with Twist Yoga. I’m currently working towards my 500-hr Yoga Teacher Certification through Twist Yoga. When I’m not teaching yoga or learning about Yoga, I like to connect with friends and family, watch movies or listen to podcasts.
